Sprayed polyurethane foam (SPF) roofs exhibit advantages over built-up roofing (BUR) and EPDM rubber roofing:
2. Water does not travel laterally in SPF roofs as it can in BUR or single-ply roofs. A leak in the top membrane of a BUR or single-ply roof will create the spreading of water, saturating the insulation and causing multiple interior leaks. With SPF, even if a hole is punched through the entire two-inch membrane, water movement will be restricted to the hole. In most cases repairs can be made with a tube of caulk.
3. Because the SPF roof is lightweight, permeable and fully adhered, normally an old roof does not need to be removed in order to apply a new one. If underlying areas of saturated insulation are found, minimal tear-off may be required.
4. The SPF roofing is less disruptive since tear-off is minimal. Also, projects are accomplished faster because the application is quieter, quicker and requires far fewer laborers.
5. Roof mounted units, penetrations, curbs, and parapets can receive a seamless monolithic application because SPF is spray applied. BUR and single-ply roofs require flashing materials with sealants, which frequently result in leaks.

Giving!
Today at Lifechurch.TV, they talked about giving/tithing. Now I know alot of people that are givers and then there are the takers. for some reason I felt compelled to take every bit of cash out of my wallet $77.00 and put into the plate. I say this not to brag or make someone else feel compelled to give.
I say this to express my desire for the world to be more of a giving society rather than takers. My family has been blessed over the years, my wife and I had successful careers and then laid off with in weeks of each other after being with Hertz and the Hartford, for 20 and 14 years. Loyal employees that gave there all to these companies and then tossed away, with out a thank you, but a severance package. While my wife was off work for 8 months, she volunteered for many organizations and soon found a new job which payed her double her previous salary and I found the same thing 3 months later. Luck you may say, or rewards form our higher power.
For those people that say they cannot find a job I say volunteer do something anything to help someone out. I shave seen people that have nothing give.
I urge people to try and give back more and see what happens. That's what I do in my company. I give more than I take, and I always get more in return. On some jobs that I have when a roof is over $20,000. I see people who live in a zone in Oklahoma city that has had tornadoes roll through. I give them a storm shelter out of my profits knowing that they will be safe if that area gets hit again. I have 2 jobs going know in Moore, Ok that I am doing that on. Because its the right thing to do. I look at the CEO's of all these big corporations or big companies that take huge salaries for themselves and don't give back.
I am going to make a challenge to every Roofing company in Oklahoma,.to do what I do. Lets see who steps up to the plate. I hope many will. I hope the companies that put in storm shelters will cut some profits in order to help out some of these people, to be safe. Especially families with kids. I would hate myself, if I took $2500 and lined my pocket on a job, and that house and family were killed when a tornado hit that house sometime later, knowing I could have done something.
People who are on a fixed income that cannot afford to fix something in their house. I urge businesses to step up and do things they normally would charge for, and just fix it for them for free. Why do some companies that are financially secure not help those in need more.
I hope the takers in this world would switch teams. and realize people should help people and not take advantage of others. Can you even imagine a world like that? There was this man who said "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."
Give of your self don't be a taker. Be a giver the rewards are amazing.

roofing scammers and door to door knockers.
1. scam artists(Predators) red flags. Storm chasers.
These guys I would like to shoot, they take advantage of trusting people. Turn them away if they ask for money up front.(Never ever pay up front for anything). Never ever sign a blank contract.
Do not hire a contractor with out of state tags, or magnetic signs on there truck, or if they are missing teeth. have an old broken down vehicle. These are signs they can barely make it doing what they do.
Personally I would only work with the owner of the company. The bigger companies have sales reps that have to earn a commission so add deduct 10 to 15% from the bid because that's what they get. I beleive the companies that have to advertise on billboards and in the yellow pages with full page adds are trying to make themselves look like they are the best. when in actuality most 90% of the public look online and research a company through the internet. If you need work done and need to hire a contractor. I would pay the few dollars to join Angie's list. It's worth it to get real opinions from real customers. Check the BBB as well. Research them check with the court documents to see if they have been sued or have a bankruptcy. Spending time before you put your autograph on a contract could save you from a very bad experience.

Door knockers. your eating dinner with your family and somebody knocks on the door and says "Hi I am in the neighborhood and noticed your roof has some damage or looks old would you like a free estimate." I would say no! unsolicited door knockers are begging for business and are the same as door to door magazine salesmen. they will waste your time and feed you some bull.
We do not do that. We don't have to our customers call us because of our reputation. Just yesterday, a client called us said he had a small leak. we found it fixed it with a $4 dollar tube of caulk. did it for free! any other company would have charge a minimum of $250 to $400 dollars just to come out. That's just robbery to me. The client knows and will tell everyone he know if they have a problem call us. That's just the right thing to do and that's how you get referrals and more business. not billboards. Granted name recognition is important but that's $2000 to $5000 a month that they have to pay for and makes the have to charge more.
So next time you need any work done from a swimming pool to a new roof check out the smaller companies talk to your friends who have had work done and see how the work went if they got a good price and we satisfied with the work and the workers.

The Roofing Truth!!
I will expose the truth behind the insurance adjusters and the roofing companies! I have worked in both sides. The big truth is insurance adjusters work there butts off! They do not mean to be short with you.. or forget to add something to your claim, that they missed. They just have about 50 other people to see and take care of that week, when there is a catastrophe. I was handling 160 claims a month when I left The Hartford in 2007. Boy what a screwed up company, that was when I left. You can see the stocks plummeted when I left in May of 2007. The lay offs were directly followed by the firing of the VP of the Property claims department, who was a (I think I know it all!) and our region manager. Then they asked me back, and I said Bite me. that was after 14 years of long hours and a new manager every six months...
Then on to working and selling roofs, for What I thought was a good company, did that for 4 years, sold millions of dollars worth of roofing, I had my own referrals coming in from my connections, I had made through the years of the insurance days. I soon realized I was the only College Grad in the entire company....(BBA in Business & Marketing) I brought them into the computer estimating world with Exactimate and Facebook, Linked in, and internet marketing.
Then the light at that point I said, time to move on, I took the best crew and the other top notch salesmen. and we teamed up with our other Partner, Todd. John and I have been through alot of very similar situations and are very good friends and we all seemed to just come together and do excellent work, We help people that can’t afford it, and the next week may do massive $250,000 job.
We decided we would be different from the used car salesman mentality of most roofing companies & show the customer what the job costs and what we make.
Now that's an Honest roofer.
We also have a price guarantee same, quality shingles, hand nailed with all the bells and whistles and I will still beat not only their price, andt my crews are the best! They work so well together, are crews are polite, effcient and respectful of your property..
Then on to working and selling roofs, for What I thought was a good company, did that for 4 years, sold millions of dollars worth of roofing, I had my own referrals coming in from my connections, I had made through the years of the insurance days.
